The CBD Food Festival showcases the excellent food and drink offering in Birmingham’s business quarter, Colmore Business District. Over 20 venues, many of whom are independent businesses, will be serving taster options priced from as little as £1.50
Visitors can sample mouth-watering internationally inspired cuisine as well as traditional British options. The variety of culinary delights will also include cheeses from around the world, delectable dessert options and a range of coffees to try. Real ales, fine wines, champagne and delicious cocktails will also be on offer.
There will be a programme of live cooking demonstrations from top chefs in CBD, including Glynn Purnell (Purnell’s), David Colcombe (Opus Restaurant) Sudha Saha (Saffron), Guneet Singh Bindra (Asha's Restaurant) and Ganesh Shrestha (Jojolapa). The quirky Jekyll & Hyde pub will also be presenting an exciting cocktail making demo.
The festival will once again take place with the Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival, which will see live music performances hosted by CBD for the fourth consecutive year. Visitors can also look out for fantastic pop up outdoor theatre to be provided by Birmingham Hippodrome as part of its Six Summer Saturdays programme. There will also be star performances from CBD’s very own choir, Colmore Chorus, made up of the business community and trained by Birmingham Opera Company.
Furthermore, the Birmingham Repertory Theatre and Black Country Touring will be present on Friday 13th July to exchange recipes and collect food stories from participants and visitors to the festival. This will be ahead of their exciting new autumn production, Eat!, based on personal food stories and experiences from people in Birmingham, the Black Country and around the world.
The festival is open to everyone and definitely not to be missed! Make sure the dates are in your diary!
